Source Atlantic's Story

Source Atlantic's President William McGowan has over 28 years of experience in planning, building and supplying hospitals, labs and medical research facilities world-wide.

McGowan launched his career as a Technology Planner at The Architect’s Collaborative (TAC), where he designed and built planning and cost estimation systems. Then he oversaw provisioning efforts for the Healthcare International facility in Clydebank, Scotland, the first Harvard-based hospital built overseas, a showcase project with a 750-bed hospital attached to a 400-bed, four-star hotel and a 250-seat conference center.

Returning from Scotland, McGowan founded Source Atlantic, growing the business into a world-wide authority on the construction, renovation and expansion of medical facilities ranging from emergency, ICU and surgical units to oncology, radiology and cardiac care clinics. For 28 years, Source Atlantic has provided planning tools and services to support construction, equipment, capital management, logistics and procurement planning, for hospitals, imaging centers and research labs among others.

In addition to the Clydebank project, project highlights include a world-class hospital in Gaborone, Botswana, as well as the corporate headquarters for Novartis in Cambridge, MA and a peer review of two 1,800-bed medical cities in Saudi Arabia.

McGowan has worked in 35 of the 50 American states, and in 36 countries, from Haiti, Poland, China and Malaysia to Libya, Morocco, Botswana and Nigeria.
